Tenacity & Paying It Forward
1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
- I think the most important behaviors in this class are persistence, organization, and discipline. There are multiple assignments due each week for this class and because they are in blog form they can kind of get lost in the back of my mind. But I have written them all in my planner and every week I make sure to set time apart to really focus on this class and try to get the most out of it.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
- I feel like I definitely have a tenacious attitude but I do not think it was developed through this course. Although it is something I use in all my college classes, I can't say that that attitude was built in this course exactly. I think that one main event in my life that made me become tenacious was moving to Gainesville and going to UF. It was a very hard transition in my life, going from living at home being close to all my family, to suddenly move to such a small town away from everyone that has ever been important to me. Although the experience was difficult, I had to concentrate and focus on school and work hard to achieve my goals.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
- GET A PLANNER.
- Although I feel like this is an obvious one for all college students, I feel like it is extra important in this class that has so many assignments due every week.
- Go through the assignments at the beginning of the semester
- This is something I'd wish I'd done in the beginning just to see what this course was like and what would be expected of me.
- Have fun
- At first trying to make your own business sounds scary and overwhelming, but it kinda ends up being fun. And this is coming from someone that is not interested in business or is in the business school.
