A few posts ago, I wrote about an idea to make a box full of women's hygiene and pleasure items that women and girls that are interested in trying new items and personalizing their shopping experience. They would subscribe to receive this box once a month, and they would have the option of customizing their box every month with either products that they liked from the month before or new ones they would like to try. But as I went around interviewing people I found that not everyone found this idea to be useful in their life. To be more specific 2 women in their late 40's, 2 high school teenagers, and 1 college student all agreed on not needing to buy this box.
Who: 2 women in their late 40's
What: They both agreed that they would not have a need for this box and the items it provided.
Why: Although they still had menstrual cycles every month, they have had them long enough that they were already comfortable with a certain brand. They had already been through all the uncomfortable situations that this box would try to help people avoid and since they already knew what products worked best for them, shopping did not take a long time. Although they would not have a need for the box they certainly liked the idea and wished something like it would have been available when they were younger.
Who: 2 high school students
What: These two girls did not think they would subscribe to a box like this for the time being.
Why: Both of these girls had older siblings who exposed them to hygiene products right when they began menstruating and they have been using the same products for the past few years. They said they did not have a hard time buying them because either their older sisters would go to the store with them or their mother would buy the products they would need. Even though they would not be interested in the box for the time being, they would probably look into it in the future when they had jobs and could pay for the boxes themselves instead of having their parents pay.
Who: College Student
What: This person was not interested in the box; she believed it was unnecessary to try so many products every month.
Why: This girl said that even though trying the products each month seems like a good idea, she still thought it was too time consuming and that it would take too much time to find a product you actually liked. She preferred to go online and read the reviews that other people have left about the items and ask family and friends what they thought of each hygiene product they used.
