We all have little day to day things that can really tick us off, and I am here to share some of mine:
- When all your internet equipment is set up correctly but still won't connect to COX internet.
- I've always heard that COX internet was horrible but this is something I've recently experienced when moving. I bought a new modem and router and everything would run perfectly but for some reason it wouldn't connect to the internet. I think one "why" of this problem is that I live in an area that has a lot of trees and maybe the connection gets lost easily.
- The way no one in Gainesville understands how to use a roundabout.
- Just how Professor Pryor talked about in class, one "why" is that roundabouts aren't things that are reviewed when learning how to drive. Driving tests (at least in Miami where I took mine) do not ask questions about roundabouts so when you finally get your license you do not know how to react.
- Bikes in the car lanes.
- To be more specific, it bothers me when people ride in car lanes and randomly decide to not follow the rules of cars. I'm not even sure if it is an actual rule that they have to follow and I'm pretty sure that is the "why." No one actually knows, or at least takes the time to learn, the rules bikes have to follow when riding in the same lanes as cars. But in my opinion, if you are riding in a car lane you should do everything a car has to do.
- When people walk on the wrong side of the sidewalk.
- Just like the previous bike problem, the "why" of this pet peeve is that there is no official rule anyone has to follow. I still feel like there is some unspoken rule that you should always keep to your right when you're walking on a sidewalk.
- When people get too close in lines, as if inching forward will make the line move faster.
- Clearly, the problem in this one is lack of spacial awareness. Which I guess cannot really be taught or changed.
- How long it takes red lights to change in Gainesville
- If you've ever driven in Gainesville then you definitely understand this. Some red lights will really have you sitting there for 5 minutes before they change to green. I'm sure that in the grand scheme of things, the stop lights are programmed the way they are to ensure that traffic keeps flowing but when you're sitting there like a lump it just feels like a big waste of time.
- How expensive women hygiene products are.
- It is ridiculous how expensive the NECESSARY items are. Women do not get to choose whether to go through these things or not (trust me, if we did get a choice then 100% of women would opt out) so we should not be paying such outrageous amounts of money for tampons and pads.
- When people don't use their blinkers.
- Can you imagine if we had a way of telling the people driving behind us that we are about to turn or move over lanes? Oh wait... WE DO! Use your blinkers people! It is not that difficult to do and can save you from getting into wrecks.
- When people don't re-rack their weights at the gym.
- It honestly takes two seconds people. And it really is not that hard to just take your plates off of the bar and put them with the rest of the equipment.
- When people leave the benches and other gym equipment all sweaty.
- Yes, we're at the gym. Yes, everyone is sweating. But there is no reason why anyone has to sit or lie down on your sweat.
- When my roommates leave dirty plates in the sink.
- I feel like it makes more sense to eat and wash your plates at that moment. In the end it just saves you more time and you don't have to worry about your roommate complaining about you.
- How I can sweep and sweep and somehow the floor in my apartment always feels dirty.
- I actually have a good time cleaning and I use it as a way to de-stress. But it bothers me how no matter how much I sweep and mop the floor always has dirt or dust. This is obviously going to happen because people and my dogs walk on the floor, but it can still get frustrating at times.
- Ikea furniture
- Don't get me wrong I love Ikea, it has good furniture at very cheap prices and I always have a good time walking around. But when it comes time to actually assemble the furniture I always find a way to mess up some step in the process. I think this happens to me because of my lack of patience, I just want to be able to sit on my couch and use my table, so I just go doing things without really going step by step.
- Cooking.
- I love food as much as the next person. But I absolutely despise being in the kitchen and making meals. It takes so much time and effort for something that will just be gone in 10 minutes. This is another factor that comes from me having little patience.
- When you're trying to get in contact with the customer support service of a store and/or place and they have an automatic machine answering the phone.
- I know that humans are more dependent on technology now more than ever. But it gets really annoying when your answering robot machine asks me what my problem is 3 times because it can't understand what I'm saying. I think we should keep customer support separate from robots.
- Cats.
- And yes, I am talking about cats as a whole. I've had my fair share of living experiences with cats and it never got better. These animals literally do whatever they want because they can't be trained and that is something that annoys me to no end. Doggos for the win.
- When chargers are plugged into the device and say that they are charging but when you unplug them the device is not charged.
- Have you noticed how this is something that happens at the worst moments ever. For example, plugging in your phone at night and waking up in the morning with less battery than when you started charging. Obviously this happens from the either the charger or the device having some electrical malfunctioning.
- The fact that laundry is never really ever done.
- Think about it. You put in and take out tons of loads of clothes, thinking you are done. But you still have the clothes you are wearing at the moment
- How expensive the membership for HBO is.
- I'm just a girl trying to watch Game of Thrones. The prices are probably high because of the great quality cameras they use and all the special effects.
- How Iphones stop working or get really slow and laggy until you upgrade to a new version.
- This is a technique that Apple uses to make sure that people keep their loyalty to Apple and of course, make money.
For our first official assignment we were asked to make a list of daily things that really bother us. I feel like on a daily basis I complain about a lot of insignificant things, but when it came time to write them down my mind went blank. For this reason this assignment actually took me a few days to complete. Since I could not come up with a list the first time I sat down to write this blog, I set it aside and every time I thought of something I would quickly write it down in my phone notes in order to not forget and later be able to transfer onto my blog. As if that was not difficult enough, not only did we have to come up with things that annoyed us, but we had to try to come up with the reason as to why these things happened. I could not always come up with an answer as to why things out of my control happened, so I admit I had to consult my good friend Google on a few topics. As difficult as it was, I really enjoyed this assignment and my ability to write about things that just do not make sense to me.
